KUSUMA Screening Tool
ASER Centre partnered with the Kusuma Foundation to design and implement a screening assessment for the Kusuma Excellence Fellowship Programme in Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh. The objective was to identify deserving Grade X and Grade XII graduates from government and government-aided schools who had demonstrated strong academic performance and met the fellowship eligibility criteria.
The project involved developing assessments that were aligned with the Uttar Pradesh state curriculum and covered subjects such as English, Hindi, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Mental Ability, Agriculture, and Commerce, depending on students’ grade level and academic stream.
ASER Centre worked with subject experts to map textbooks, design assessment items across varying difficulty levels, conduct pilot testing, refine tools based on evidence from the field, and train the Kusuma Foundation team in assessment administration and scoring. The resulting screening assessment served as a key component of the fellowship selection process, providing a rigorous and evidence-based mechanism for identifying eligible candidates.
